According to the United Nations, a third of the food produced for human consumption each year worldwide is lost or wasted. Much of it ends up in landfills, where it releases methane into the atmosphere as it decomposes and ends up contributing 8 per cent of the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions. Not only that! We are also burning up many of the planet’s resources making food that doesn’t even get consumed. At Little Creatures, we believe it’s the little things that make a difference. We’ve been mindful of our impact on the environment and in the communities where we live. We have done our bit to positively contribute in small but meaningful ways. For us, partnering up with Hong Kong Community Composting to compost our brewery’s spent grain, and brewing our Forgotten Toast beer, are a couple of novel solutions for turning our craft brewery’s waste into natural fertilizers and reducing food waste, alongside educating consumers and raising awareness on the impact of food waste in today’s world.
Join us on January 22nd for a conversation on how, together, as consumers and business, we can help solve the issue of food waste in Hong Kong. Each ticket supports Hong Kong Community Composting‘s education initiatives to promote transforming organic waste into quality compost that can be used to promote healthy soils in our HK communities. Tickets also include 2 pints of our upcycled Forgotten Toast beer*, complemented by many of our most loved Creatures vegetarian dishes (family sharing style). Guests are welcome to bring their own food containers for leftover foods after the event!
